England's 2028 school holidays benefit from a well-placed Easter (16 April) and an excellent Christmas arrangement. As a leap year, 2028 has an extra day in February โ falling during the school year but having no direct effect on holidays.
The Early May Bank Holiday (1 May) follows Easter Monday (17 April) by just 14 days โ meaning the spring term has two breaks in quick succession, making the first half of summer term feel particularly short for pupils and teachers.
Summer holidays: England's ~6-week summer break runs from late July to early September. The Summer Bank Holiday (28 August) falls on the last Monday of August.
October half-term: Typically the last week of October โ a popular period for family breaks and Halloween activities.
Christmas 2028: Christmas Day on a Monday gives the festive school break a clean structure. Most schools will schedule Christmas holidays from approximately 20 December 2028 to 7 January 2029, with New Year's Day (1 January, Monday) as a bank holiday.
